Planning Law

Graeme Quar acted for The Bombay Spirits Company, a subsidiary of the giant Bacardi empire, in connection with obtaining planning consent for a substantial distillery development in Hampshire.

Laverstoke Mill, between Overton and Whitchurch had previously been given planning permission for housing. The company submitted alternative plans to redevelop it as a new production facility for its famous Bombay Sapphire Gin. Under a Section 106 agreement, it included a heritage centre and trail along the River Test and agreed to undertake highway improvements under Section 278.

"This development brings both employment and amenity benefits to the local community," says Graeme, who handled  the  Section 106 agreement negotiations with the Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and the Highways Authority. "We're pleased to have been instructed by a global company to handle a development issue on our own 'patch'."
